Elizabeth Warren, chair of a panel designed to oversee TARP fund allocation, on how responsible the Treasury Department has been:
The point we make forcefully in this report is that there were no data about where this money was going, no information about where this money was going [. . .]
Why is it again I should trust government with yet more bailout funds when they had no fucking idea where the first $700 billion was going, and that much of it was international welfare that went to foreign banks and corporations rather than into American coffers to help stimulate our own economy?
