Education != Intelligence

I knew that many college professors were idiots.
I am a college professor increasingly frustrated by the incredible debt I see my students taking on.
Rather than spending their time learning how to creatively solve the problems of the future, their debt forces them to think of education narrowly in terms of “what they can do with it after they graduate.”Education was once considered a public good and not a private investment.
Education was once considered to be for the 99%.
How historically and economically illiterate are you, Mr. College Professor? It wasn’t until the government tried to make college a public good, by dumping metric shitloads of very cheap and free cash for college in the form of loans and grants over the last 3 decades, that tuition rose so high that many students had to take on huge amounts of debt in order to go. Not until government tried to push a college education as a basic right, providing people with piles of cash, did college become unaffordable. It’s called a market distortion.
Economics 101: when you introduce a massive amount of free or cheap money in to ANY market, the cost of the product will rise dramatically (see bubble, housing). Education is no different from any other consumer good, subject to the basic rules of economics, no matter how much intellectuals would like for it to be otherwise. Have you not heard of supply and demand? Or are you simply being an intellectually dishonest douche? Because you have the situation exactly backwards.
