But the levy’s supporters argued from the start that it had a dual purpose: to raise funds to cover some of the cost of extending health coverage to the uninsured and to discourage a habit that scientific studies have linked with increased risk of cancer.
Another prime example of Obama’s “fall in line with my social agenda, or pay for the privilege of living your way” policy. Forget the outcry of racism concerning the new tax, though it does seem racist in effect being that only white people will pay his tax, and see it for what it is: social engineering via taxation.
