The AP:

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said that allowing tax cuts for the wealthy to expire would be “the responsible thing to do.”

“It’s responsible to let the tax cuts expire that just go to 2 percent to 3 percent of Americans, the highest earning Americans,” Geithner told ABC’s “This Week” in an interview broadcast Sunday.

Doing so would show the world that the U.S. is “willing as a country now to start to make some progress” reducing long-term budget deficits, he said.

Since when does taking more money via taxation qualify a country as ready to do something about deficits? How the fuck is that responsible, as opposed to cutting insane spending habits? Demotards are trying to frame our massive federal debt as a revenue problem, rather than a spending problem. That they are not taking enough as opposed to them spending too much. That their problem is a lack of coercion, not a gluttony of spendthrifts.

I have no doubt that the shit storm of government spending will require higher tax revenues to set straight. But, as I have argued before, that is step 862; steps 1-861 need to concern themselves with cutting federal spending. The responsible thing to do to solve debt is NOT to rob a bank, but to put the goddamn credit cards away. I am not your bank to rob, and I’m getting sick and fucking tired of you treating me as such. Your spending is NOT an entitlement. Me keeping my cash is.
