Why We Need Video of Cops

Fuck cops. From The Denver Post:

Denver officials are deeply divided over the proper level of punishment for a police officer who was seen on video tackling and beating a 23-year-old man who was doing nothing but talking on a telephone outside a LoDo nightclub.

Deeply divided? How the fuck can anyone be deeply fucking divided about how to handle rogue cops who outright abuse their power and end up beating the hell out of an innocent person, followed by outright fucking lies in the police report trying to place the blame on the victim of said beating? And if that bullshit isn’t bad enough, we get,

Rosenthal, in a report to be released on Monday, labels as “pure fiction” the police report from Sparks that describes his force as justified because DeHerrera “spun to his left attempting to strike me in the face with a closed right fist.”

Safety Manager Ron Perea, who oversees the police department and has final say on discipline, has rejected Rosenthal’s argument that the officers should be fired. He suspended Murr without pay for three days for submitting an “inaccurate report.” Sparks also lost three days pay.

So beating the shit out of a guy committing the horrendous fucking crime of talking on his cell phone isn’t somehow worthy of being fired? A goddamn three day suspension is all that warrants? What the fuck does a cop have to do to lose his fucking job? How many criminal charges would I face if I walked up to some dude and beat the shit out of him with a metal club with no provocation whatsofuckingever?

“The video, when viewed in isolation, seems to portray the subject officers as overly aggressive for the situation,” Perea said. “There is no audio and it appears that there is a man on the phone ignoring but not being overtly aggressive towards the officer when the officer takes him down. The video, however, does not tell the entire story.”

The video doesn’t tell the entire fucking story? Pray tell, cop motherfucker, where might we find this entire story? Certainly not in the fucking fraud of a police report. The video, taped by the city, shows a man who, without provocation, proceeded to take a beating from a cop. The cop’s story is an outright lie, and yet you still give deference to what he says happened, using it to decide that a mere 3 day suspension is the appropriate penalty.

Fuck. You.

We absolutely need non-government oversight which is 100% responsible for doling out punishment to cops. No more of this fucking state sponsored bullshit where cops/cop apologists judge cops. They have shown time and again they cannot do that fucking job with any sense of justice.
