Smoke weed in a city where marijuana has been decriminalized, get your children taken away. Maia Szalavitz at Time Healthland:
People caught with small amounts of marijuana in New York State are supposed to receive no more than a $100 fine, the equivalent of a traffic ticket. Instead, in New York City, many such people are being accused of child neglect, even if they are never charged with a drug-related violation. And some have even lost custody of their children.
Hundreds of child welfare investigations have been initiated as a result of marijuana arrests, though the parents who were caught were never charged or convicted of any crime, the New York Times reported Thursday in a front-page story.
I’m not a religious man, or even a spiritual one, but I really hope that there is a special circle of hell reserved for drug warriors. They storm in to people’s lives, people who aren’t hurting anyone but the sensibilities of drug warriors, and completely tear lives apart, traumatizing children, and leaving a path of destruction in their wake. How anyone can support this kind of shit is beyond me. May all drug warriors go die in a fucking fire. The only positive outcome that can come from this kind of state sponsored terror is producing people who are that much more cognizant that the government is not your friend.
