A school nurse locking a student in a back room in the office as he is gasping for air from an asthma attack while she simply watches him and refuses to give him a prescription inhaler that was clearly marked with both his name and the correct dosage because the proper paperwork wasn’t submitted. And the school defends the nurse under the guise of her having “followed the correct procedure.”

A registered nurse cannot turn a blind eye to an emergency situation without risk to their license. It’s common knowledge. That being said, Florida has a “Good Samaritan Law” on the books that prevents a health care provider from being sued or in this case fired for providing said care regardless of “district procedures.”
