The 70/30 Nation

For a Voluntary Society - End Statism NowArthur C. Brooks via The Washington Post:

If we reject the administration’s narrative, the 70-30 nation will remain strong. If we accept it, and base our nation’s policies on it, we will be well on our way to a European-style social democracy. Punitive taxes and regulations will make it harder to be an entrepreneur, and the rewards of success will be expropriated for the sake of greater income equality.

The new statism in America, made possible by years of drift and accelerated by the panic over the economic crisis, threatens to make us permanently poorer. But that is not the greatest danger. The real risk is that in the new culture war, we will forsake the third unalienable right set out in our Declaration of Independence: the pursuit of happiness.

Here’s to hoping that the 70 beats the ever living shit out of the 30 over the next 2 election cycles.  If not, I fear that America will forever be known as the once-great nation that was a beacon to the world.  We seem destined, if we continue along with the statist agenda of regimes like the Bush and Obama administrations, to end up like the failed and failing nations in the EU, or, worse yet, the absofuckinglutely failed communist states which championed the very redistributionist drek spewed out daily by Obama and his band of merry men.  If you have any questions about the possibilities of statism in America, look no further than that big fucking state on the left coast which is completely in the fiscal shitter with one of the highest unemployment rates in the country.  This is not a Republitard v Libertard issue, but one of rejecting the government co-opting and disintegration of once-revered private space in America.  This is an issue of rejecting state control over the private lives of Americans and putting government in its place.
