The Reality of Hope and Change

It’s nice to see all that Hope and Change Obama campaigned on is working out for us.

When it comes to the legal framework for confronting terrorism, President Obama is acting in no meaningful sense any differently than President Bush . . . More important, President Obama has embraced and at times defended the same wartime powers as President Bush, with all of their attendant constitutional dangers.

The best thing Obama could have done as president, rather than pushing a hard lined demotarded agenda, would have been to mend some of the many gashes perpetrated on the American people by getting rid of some of the most contentious executive orders and Bush-era bills concerning terrorism and fighting the war on terror.  Instead he’s co-opted Bush’s policies and is conducting business as if he were at The Western White House himself.  Bravo!
