Police Civilian Review Board

How the fuck do I start one of these? Everywhere there is a police/sheriff’s department needs civilians to review police work, especially when heavy assaults/SWAT raids are used. Every. Single. One. That those for whom the police work have no idea how wrecklessly the police operate, and have no oversight or input as to how our communties are policed is outrageous in a free society, and needs to change. We need 100% transparency on how the police operate. We need to insure that when the police act irresponsibly, that they pay consequences for it.

I think it’s like warning labels on cleaning products which advise not to orally consume said chemical; unless that particular thing has occurred to that company/community, those in charge and those that buy into it don’t feel the need for a warning, much less vigilance of any sort.

I think you’re right. We don’t know that we need transparency because we don’t have transparency to tell us why we need transparency. It’s a vicious reality that isn’t conducive to change, even though we need it sorely.
