Rand Paul Reversing His Support for Medical Marijuana

From the Marijuana Policy Project:
Back in May, when Kentucky Republican Rand Paul defeated an establishment candidate to win his party’s nomination for the U.S. Senate, I pointed out that one of the issues Paul used to win over voters was his support of medical marijuana laws.
Now, in a telling political move, the son of Ron Paul has reversed his stance on the issue, telling the Associated Press last week that “he is opposed to the legalization of marijuana, even for medicinal purposes.” (He also stated that he doesn’t think the government’s war on drugs is “a real pressing issue” and that he wants to cut federal funding for drug treatment programs.)
Rand is single-handedly moving me closer and closer to an abstention in the KY senate vote. He’s turned from a promising candidate to just another social conservative douche-cicle. How the fuck does one go from support of medicinal pot to non-support in a matter of a few months? And how the fuck does someone who is championed by the tea party, the single largest movement supposedly against obscene government spending, not see the war on drugs as a “real pressing issue?”. I mean, we only spend metric shitloads of cash on it every year in both enforcement and imprisonment.

Sounds like the usual “Tell’em what they want to hear to get elected then do whatever the fuck I want” douchebaggery that keeps Senators swimming in that “special interest” gravy.
