High Expectations

Though some might maintain that expectations are too high for Obama to meet adequately as his major hurdle in maintaining the support of the American people that he had during the time he was Mr. Hopey McChangey, we must remember that it is he who set the bar so high during his victory speech after winning the Democratic Party primaries in 2008:
I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth.
So stop blaming the American people for holding Obama responsible for not delivering shit-free unicorns to the front lawns of every American. Perhaps had he not promised to be the second coming, he wouldn’t be held as a fraud now. He hasn’t provided health care for the sick, he’s coerced money from productive people in order to give it to the unproductive under the threat of a “fee” and imprisonment. He hasn’t gotten good jobs for the jobless, he’s made even more jobless. He hasn’t ended either war, but escalated one and changed the terms of the other. He hasn’t restored our image and made us the “last, best hope”, he’s made it heterogeneous with Euro-stlye governance, and just another place where people can count on government to spend erroneously and give money out to those who adequately fellate the establishment.
