Ain’t Government Grand?

Ain’t government grand? Los Times de Nueva York:

From 1946 to 1948, American public health doctors deliberately infected nearly 700 Guatemalans — prison inmates, mental patients and soldiers — with venereal diseases in what was meant as an effort to test the effectiveness of penicillin.

American tax dollars, through the National Institutes of Health, even paid for syphilis-infected prostitutes to sleep with prisoners, since Guatemalan prisons allowed such visits. When the prostitutes did not succeed in infecting the men, some prisoners had the bacteria poured onto scrapes made on their penises, faces or arms, and in some cases it was injected by spinal puncture.

For now let’s forget about the specifics of dick scraping and purposeful infection of people with serious diseases. This is what governments are capable of when providing for the “greater good”. See also Tuskeegee and the infamous progressive eugenics programs (held up as Constitutional under Buck v Bell) for other examples of rampant and immoral trampling of individuals through government force. Government completely disregards the rights of individuals, and is okay with the results (though not so keen on people finding out about the truth). This is the end result of any statist policy. And yes, it was done under a democratic administration (not that Republitards are any less willing to sacrifice individuals for their idea of greater good). This, along with the forced sterilization programs of the 20th century, is the largest instance of true terrorism I have ever seen. A bunch of well-funded scarcely scattered extremists occasionally blowing shit up has nothin’ on governments experimenting on people in ways that make Mengele proud.
