A Welcome Step

It’s refreshing to see an overtly conservative leaning publication come out in favor of California’s Proposition 19 which would make marijuana legal for recreational use. The American Spectator:
I find the current consensus against legalized marijuana nearly as baffling. As Conrad Black argued the other day at National Review, it’s pretty clear that our current marijuana policy has been a failure. Proposition 19, the marijuana legalization initiative on the ballot in California today, would be a welcome step away from that failed policy (and would shift the drug policy debate in Latin America as well as the US).
A welcome step indeed. I only wish that I were a Californian for the day so that I could do my part to end the insanity that is the war on drugs.
