Lack of Regulation Made Me an Academic Fraud

In a statement from a now completely discredited “social psychologist”, Diederik Stapel, who was recently fired for falsifying data in various studies proving the eeeeeeeeeeeeeevil of non-liberals1:

I did not withstand the pressure to score, to publish, the pressure to get better in time. I wanted too much, too fast. In a system where there are few checks and balances, where people work alone, I took the wrong turn. I want to emphasize that the mistakes that I made were not born out of selfish ends.

Apparently a lack of regulation in his field MADE him produce fraudulent evidence which supports his worldview. And there’s NO WAY that producing fraudulent evidence in support of one’s very narrow worldview is “selfish”. Just NO WAY. It was for the good of mankind. Or something.

Or perhaps it’s that the idea that “social psychology” is itself a fraudulent avenue of study.
