The Ghosts of Communism

Tuesday 20 December 2011 - Filed under Uncategorized

Some douchebag in the Guardian concerning Havel’s recent death and how he missed the point of communism:

Havel’s anti-communist critique contained little if any acknowledgement of the positive achievements of the regimes of eastern Europe in the fields of employment, welfare provision, education and women’s rights. Or the fact that communism, for all its faults, was still a system which put the economic needs of the majority first.

I’m sure that the tens of millions dead at the hands of Stalin and Mao and any number of other communist regimes of the 20th century would disagree that there were any “positive achievements” at all.

There are still people who believe this shit?
