Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn) in his post-“doing something”about our financial institutions orgasm:

It’s a great moment. I’m proud to have been here. No one will know until this is actually in place how it works. But we believe we’ve done something that has been needed for a long time. It took a crisis to bring us to the point where we could actually get this job done.

Wait, what?

My translation from slimy politico-speak to to everyday people language:

This is fucking awesome.  At this point, I have so much disdain for the American people and fear nothing for my job that I’m not even going to pretend to give a shit about the fact that even I, the head of the committee overseeing the writing of the bill, have no fucking clue how the thing is going to work.1 I mean, we had to do something, right?  It definitely had nothing to do with anything that we did.  Banks and corporations and greed and money and capitalism and free market, or something.

_______________
1. Which, as was pointed out by Radley Balko of Reason magazine, also means “he has no idea if it will work. Which also means he has no idea if the bill will do more harm than good. Nonetheless, he’s certain it was needed, and is proud to have helped make it happen.”
