WTF is Israel Doing?

I’m no expert in foriegn diplomacy and I’d hate to presume that I know better how to keep Israel safe from its overtly hostile neighbors than it does, but it seems to me that Israel has lost its shit with thier blockade of Gaza, and apparently I’m not the only one.

The Price You Pay

Dexter Filkins via The New York Times: But the episode, and others like it, has raised the suspicions of investigators here and in Washington, who are trying to track the tens of millions in taxpayer dollars paid to private security companies to move supplies to American and other NATO bases. Although the investigation is not […]

Typical

Apparently, the advisory board whose single task is to find creative ways to cut the federal deficit wants needs more money.

Douche of the Day

Bill Maher.  This guy has turned from amazingly funny comedian, to a not at all funny politically motivated shit throwing douche.  And an amazingly uninformed one as well: New Rule: Al Gore must come out with a sequel to his movie about climate change and call it, An Inconvenient Truth 2: What the Fuck Is […]

Does Not Compute

Joan Biskupic via USA Today: By a 5-4 vote, the justices said that once rights have been read and questioning begun, a suspect must clearly declare that he wants to remain silent and cannot simply be silent. If I have to speak up in order to be silent, what’s the fucking point of having a […]

A Revision

Ben Webster via Times Online: The society appears to have conceded that it needs to correct previous statements. It said: “Any public perception that science is somehow fully settled is wholly incorrect — there is always room for new observations, theories, measurements.” This contradicts a comment by the society’s previous president, Lord May, who was […]

Even Better

About 4.5 seconds after I posted Pray Tell, I found a far more eloquent, better researched and more qualified piece which expresses my sentiments exactly.  So I’ll defer to Gene Healy via The Washington Examiner: It’s hard to feel sorry for the “Yes We Can” candidate, who got the job by stoking the juvenile expectation […]

Pray Tell

Jake Tapper and Huma Khan via ABC: The White House is seemingly making an increased show of pressuring BP, but President Obama is facing political heat from within his own party for what some say has been a lackluster response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Pray tell, state worshipers, what the […]

A Big Surprise

Kareem Fahim via The New York Times: The government has not said whether any of the people killed by security forces were armed. And although almost a thousand people were arrested and detained for days, all but 10 of them were eventually released without charge. A side note to the collateral damage in Jamaica as […]

“Interesting”

I find it “interesting” that some people can seek money they otherwise couldn’t afford to repay, buy a house they otherwise could not afford to buy, stop making their payments claiming “self preservation”, then blame the lenders all while absolving themselves of any responsibility whatsoever.  David Streitfelt via The New York Times: A growing number […]
