Let Me Be Clear. Again.

Scott Shane of The New York Times concerning the Obama administration’s crackdown on government leaks:

The indictment of Mr. Drake was the latest evidence that the Obama administration is proving more aggressive than the Bush administration in seeking to punish unauthorized leaks to the press.

In 17 months in office, President Obama has already outdone every previous president in pursuing leak prosecutions. His administration has taken actions that might have provoked sharp political criticism for his predecessor, George W. Bush, who was often in public fights with the press.

Might have provoked sharp criticism?  Way to expose your entire industry’s hypocrisy as well as Obama’s in one fell swoop.

With these kinds of pronouncements on openess and transparency as being “touchstones of this presidency”, one would have thought that there would be wet t-shirt contests on the White House lawn during happy hour, not throwing in prison more people who have leaked information than any other president in history.  And this feat before he’s even served 1/2 his term.
