Republican U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul reached out to gun advocates on Saturday, trying to shore up support from a major voting bloc in Kentucky.

Conway, the state’s attorney general, also is vying for the NRA endorsement, said campaign spokeswoman Allison Haley.
“Jack Conway is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and gun owners’ rights,” Haley said.
Here in Kentucky, you don’t even get in the starting gate as a politician if you don’t fully support gun rights. Only those who might represent districts in small pockets of Louisville or Lexington could even suggest limiting gun rights and live to fight another day.
