Occupy Broke Street

Occupy Wall Street is about broke, with some questionable spending by its “government”, yet continue to take the same view as their progressive masters in government and the media by framing it as a revenue problem. The Wall Street Journal:
Occupy Wall Street—the movement built on protesting corporate greed and income inequality—is running out of money.
After raising more than $700,000 last fall, protesters who keep track of money for Occupy Wall Street reported this week that the group has about $170,000 in its bank account. Very few donations are coming in, they said.

To be sure, most of the funding went to necessary tasks, organizers said: transporting hundreds of pounds of dirty laundry in a rented U-Haul truck, keeping the Zuccotti Park clean, and feeding thousands of people.
But in November, after a document tracking expenses was posted online, some expenditures have been questioned.
There was a receipt for $1,101.07 to purchase herbs for homeopathic medicine as well as a few hundred dollars used to purchase rolling paper and tobacco for the “Nic at Night” cigarette station at the park.
“There were a lot of people who were poor and really wanted a cigarette,” Mr. Carey said. “You may not like it, but it was voted on by the General Assembly.”
These people have no sense of self responsibility and plainly view it as the that of others to pay for their choices. Their choice to live in a fucking park and “protest” capitalism needs to be subsidized so they can stay there. Their want for a goddamn cigarette too must be subsidized, along with everything else. Yet they seem completely incapable of joining the reality that their governing body is broke with the larger reality that the real government (the one in DC that they should have been protesting this whole time) is also broke, and although they have decided the best course of action for their ranks is to freeze spending, they simply cannot fathom Congress doing the same.
These people are pathetic and need to shunned. They call themselves part of a “reality based community” yet continuously demonstrate that they have no grasp of it. They live in a fantasy land of academic lore.
