95%

When 95% of your models are wrong, it’s time that you revise the theory that drives the models, and it’s time to stop warning about the end of the world with the information you get from the models. Dr. Roy Spencer: I’m seeing a lot of wrangling over the recent (15+ year) pause in global […]

Communism

Communism: shitty for people, shitty for the environment. Colin Grabow at The Federalist: In addition to being an advocate for an ideology directly responsible for tens of millions of non-war deaths and untold human misery, Myerson has revealed himself as something of an ignoramus concerning communism’s shocking record on environmental issues. Not only a blight […]

Settled?

The science is settled? Apparently not as a group of German scientists have found that virtually all of the temperature change associated with “climate change” is caused by natural variations called the de Vries cycle, and that the globe is now on a cooling trend that will last until about 2100: “Due to the de […]

The Greenies Are At It Again

The Guardian: Over the last fortnight I’ve made a deeply troubling discovery. The anti-nuclear movement to which I once belonged has misled the world about the impacts of radiation on human health. The claims we have made are ungrounded in science, unsupportable when challenged, and wildly wrong. We have done other people, and ourselves, a […]

Ideological Stupidity

Charles Lane of The Washington Post concerning Obama’s ideological stupidity and electric cars in America: Yet, like a rural voter clinging to his guns, the Obama administration brushes aside the experts because – well, who knows why? Perhaps subsidizing electric cars helps a Democratic administration make corporate welfare and tax breaks for the wealthy seem […]

Externalities

When talking about energy policy and fossil fuels, one of the many things that the libertarded like to throw about is the idea of externalities in the cost of fossil fuels. The things which can’t always be quantified, like environmental costs. They talk of the evils of fossil fuels and the wonders of renewable energies, […]

That Didn’t Take Long

I knew it wouldn’t take too long for a lefty greentard to be upset that the oil spill isn’t the ecological disaster the media hyperbole claimed it would be. Now that the oil on the surface appears to be dissipating, the notion of a recovery from the spill, repeated by politicians, strikes some here as […]

A Lost Opportunity

Something tells me that the terminally libertarded are very upset at this; that, rather than a good thing, they have been robbed of an opportunity to further use the hyperbolic oil spill coverage as a means to further the progressive agenda. The Washington Post: Oil from the BP blowout is degrading rapidly in the warm […]

Bad Weather May Delay Relief Well Drilling

I’ll bet that someone, somewhere will find a way to blame this on free market failure.

Par for the Course

Neil King Jr. And Keith Johnson of The Wall Street Journal: Obama Decried, Then Used, Some Bush Drilling Policies Criticizing Bush during his presidential campaign, then co-opting his shitty policies and making them all his own, then blaming Bush when shit goes wrong is par for the course with Obama. What is the deal this […]

WSJ: BP Relied on Faulty U.S. Data

The more information that emerges about the oil spill, the more it looks to be a government induced problem, and not solely a matter of corporate irresponsibility (though I suspect that the likes of MSNBC and CNN will still spin it that way).  Neil King Jr. and Keith Johnson via The Wall Street Journal: BP […]

A very long and impeccably researched expose on the Deepwater Horizon explosion and the immediate efforts to pinch the leak shows two very undeniable facts: Though people would blame “deregulation” for the oil leak, it wasn’t that there were not more than enough regulations that might have kept the explosion and resulting spill from happening, […]

Wes Benedict, Executive Director of the Libertarian Party, in a statement concerning government reaction to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico: When President Obama gave his Oval Office speech on Tuesday, there was one important word missing: the word ‘liability.’ The president never mentioned that, thanks to liability caps provided by the […]

At It Again

Apparently, Obama is back to thinking he’s fucking El Supremo.  Robert Gibbs, Press Secretary of the White House, in a NPR interview on using executive strong-arming with BP: Mr. GIBBS: Steve, I’d say we’re working on that with a whole host of entities. The point of this is to create, if need be through the […]

I disagree

Deborah Gordon and Daniel Sperling in The Washington Post on why major oil corporations are ill suited to lead us to clean, alternative energy: Big Oil is fundamentally mismatched to the project of developing alternative fuels. The corporate culture and core competence of oil companies favor large, centralized investments; these conglomerates are skilled at building […]

Amusing

I find it extremely amusing that the attitude of some people is that oil gushing in to the gulf is bad, but that detonating a fucking nuclear bomb to stop it is okay.  They’re not okay with oil in the environment, but are good with radiation.
