Myths About Obama: He Cares About Homosexual Rights

Myth: Obama understands the discrimination against homosexuals and will do everything in his power to restore the rights of homosexuals.

Reality: BULLSHIT! Obama has done nothing but pay lip service to gay rights since his election, while actively working to thwart any measures that might advance them. He talks about “civil unions” for homosexuals rather than marriage (the same talk that liberals railed against when brought up as a compromise previously by republitards). Currently, he’s engaged in a campaign to put a stay on a judicial order (brought about by a lawsuit filed by the Log Cabin Republicans) which determined that the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy was unconstitutional (which effectively ended discrimination against openly gay soldiers, would-be and current). Many liberals, like an abused spouse, keep telling themselves that Obama will come around when the time is right, or that he hasn’t done it yet out of deference for long held customs, but when you run a campaign centered around the idea of being different from every president before, custom should be about the last thing on to which one holds. Either you have principles, or you don’t.
