Obama Celebrates Proposition 19’s Defeat

Anyone who thinks that Obama, because of his cool demeanor and past history of drug usage, would be more liberal with drug policy is a fucking idiot. Obama’s Drug Czar explains:

Today, Californians recognized that legalizing marijuana will not make our citizens healthier, solve California’s budget crisis, or reduce drug related violence in Mexico [. . .] The Obama administration has been clear in its opposition to marijuana legalization because research shows that marijuana use is associated with voluntary treatment admissions for addiction, fatal drugged driving accidents, mental illness and emergency room admissions.

Isn’t that the same propaganda spewed forth in the Reefer Madness days?

Hopefully pot smokers nationwide will stop believing that Democrats are at all interested in ending or even mitigating the war on drugs. Their only goal is to pander to entrenched law enforcement and corrections officers unions who are, go fucking figure, adamantly against any sort of drug liberalization. Not because it’s good policy, mind you, but because marijuana enforcement is “where the money is”.
