Bad Weather May Delay Relief Well Drilling

I’ll bet that someone, somewhere will find a way to blame this on free market failure.

Hypocritical Bunch

I would imagne that the very same people who are bitching and complaining about Tony Hayward going on his yacht yesterday have absolutely nothing to say about Obama’s various golf outings since the oil spill (regardless of the fact that neither of them can personally do anything about the spill).  I won’t begrudge any man […]

Sounds About Right

Stephen Power of The Wall Street Journal concerning oil company testimony on capitol hill this morning: Republicans who attended the hearing accused Democrats and the Obama administration of inappropriately using the disaster to pass legislation aimed at limiting emissions of heat-trapping gases linked to climate change. Never let a good crisis go to waste.

I find it extremely amusing that the attitude of some people is that oil gushing in to the gulf is bad, but that detonating a fucking nuclear bomb to stop it is okay.  They’re not okay with oil in the environment, but are good with radiation.

Kettle, Meet Pot

How much would you like to bet that these same upstanding citizens covering themselves in oil and screaming frantically for a government takeover of BP (as if the federal government has more expertise in the complex science of deep water drilling than BP which specializes in the complex science of deep water drilling) are the […]

Tragedy Turned Political Ally

Steven Muffson and Michael D Shear via The Washington Post: Allies of the president have argued for weeks that the administration should stop talking about BP, the oil company responsible for the spill, and instead tap into the public attention to the catastrophe in hopes of giving it at least some redemptive value in the […]

The Bright Side

I’m loathe to suggest that there might be a bright side to the oil spill in the gulf, but if there is, Peter Baker of The New York Times sums it up perfectly: Now that engineers have given up trying to plug the leak and have turned their efforts to containing it until a relief […]

A Question

When is it that the President Obama will start to take some blame for the ills that happen during his presidency and stop blaming the Bush Administration?  He has been in office for over 500 days, and yet nothing is ever his fault.  Part of Hope and Change, Mr. Obama, is to NOT point the […]

Even Better

About 4.5 seconds after I posted Pray Tell, I found a far more eloquent, better researched and more qualified piece which expresses my sentiments exactly.  So I’ll defer to Gene Healy via The Washington Examiner: It’s hard to feel sorry for the “Yes We Can” candidate, who got the job by stoking the juvenile expectation […]

Pray Tell

Jake Tapper and Huma Khan via ABC: The White House is seemingly making an increased show of pressuring BP, but President Obama is facing political heat from within his own party for what some say has been a lackluster response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Pray tell, state worshipers, what the […]

This is BP’s Problem, Not Ours

Clifford Krauss and Matthew L. Wald via The New York Times: The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency in Louisiana announced Tuesday that, at the request of Gov. Bobby Jindal, the federal Department of Commerce had declared a commercial fisheries failure for the state, allowing commercial fishermen to receive aid from the Economic Development […]

Who’s to Blame?

Apparently executives from the 3 companies involved in the gulf oil spill, BP, Transocean and Halliburton, are tripping over themselves because they can’t get to the podium fast enough to lay the blame for the spill on someone else.  If the Libertarian Party was in charge of shit, the answer would be easy.  According to […]
